A cleaner, sometimes also referred to as a cleaning operative, is engaged in the professional cleaning of premises in a domestic, public, business or industrial setting. Some cleaning operatives specialise in particular areas or places which may require particular skills or the use of specific equipment. One example of such is window cleaning.
Cleaning operations can be disruptive to other work that may be going on in a particular space. Cleaning operatives are therefore often required to work outside normal working hours, when the people who otherwise occupy the space are not around or are very few in number. Some cleaning companies work around this requirement by cleaning residences by day and businesses by night.
